Ultimate-range tone knob

Posted on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Any Guitar, Les-Pauls and SGs, Stratocasters, Woz Mods and Upgrades

Ultimate-range tone knob Mod by Woz Giving you the same sound when all the way up, but able to roll down into much lower territory, this mod makes your tone knob much more useful. Tame jangles and explore a range of cozy old-woman-tone. Not only can you dial-in your own flavor of round and beepy, but you can turn it back and forth while playing and get wah-like and shimmering near-chorus effects. These mods intend to make every control something you can perform on, able to contribute attention-getting influence to solos on-the-fly.
You can do this to any guitar.

50% center-detent volume

50% center-detent volume Mod by Woz Feel a tiny “click” when your volume knob is at 50%. Turn your amp all the way up to your max lead volume and use your guitar’s volume knob to roll back to the same rhythm volume every time. The center-detent makes no noise and is subtle enough to cleanly roll past it when you need to. One-finger volume swells for example are smooth and don’t catch on it.
You can do this to any guitar.

1M extra-loud volume

Posted on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Any Guitar, Les-Pauls and SGs, Stratocasters, Woz Mods and Upgrades

1M Extra-loud Volume Mod by WozUnder the knob is a little variable-resistor known as a Potentiometer or Pot. When the knob is all the way down your signal is shorted to ground. When it’s all the way up, the value of the pot is still between the signal and ground, taming it a bit. Basically, if you increase the value of this guy, you let more sound out. You will get a louder, hotter tone at maximum volume. While it will still say “10,” your guitar will go to “11.”
You can do this to any guitar.

“Secret Fatness” Mod by Woz

The Secret Fatness Mod by Woz.
How would you like your Strat to have the thick high-output tone of a humbucker guitar without changing out the pickups? The key is combining them in Series, something Fender would frown on. Manufacturers prefer that your single-coils stay single-coil-sounding, but just as coil-tapping a humbucker will give you a single-coil sound, combining two in Series will fatten things up, doubling your output.

You can have these fat sounds secretly available. Your friends will marvel at the tone your guitar is capable of. You can choose to keep the exact original look of your guitar or add a triple-output switch for intense leads. It’s affordable and there’s a few other cool options, click more below to check it out.

“Identity Crisis” Mod by Woz

Identity Crisis Strat mod by Woz

Identity Crisis Strat

The Identity Crisis Mod by Woz.
Basically, you get a Gibson-style toggle on your Strat that switches between three modes. When it’s all the way down the pickup selector works just like normal.

In the middle, the pickup selector is in Gibson Mode, and you can switch between the fat high-output caramel of your middle&bridge or neck&middle pickups together in series, like the two coils in a Gibson-style humbucker.
In the third mode you get a whole palate of out-of-phase sounds, from Jimmy Page quacks to surf spank, lofi reggae thin rhythm and cutting distortion leads with added harmonics. Two of the modes are a hybrid out-of-phase with punchier attack and enhanced harmonics, but none of the volume drop usually associated with out-of-phase pickups.
The switches are simple to deal with live. This Mod is not just about versatility, it’s about live performance. You can differentiate rhythm and lead tones almost subconsciously during a song. Tones are where they need to be, the most useful are the easiest to get to, so you can’t accidentally disappear or stomp on everyone.
