“It was a Canadian Facebook friend named Billy Haner on vacation in Sin City who turned me onto Downtown Vintage Guitars.  Random?  I prefer to call it six-string serendipity.  Having recently released my new, self-published book, Sweet Demotion, I’ve been reaching out to some old and dear rock star friends to lay their John Hancocks on a few axes that came into my possession so I can finance a book-signing tour.  I’m proud to display these very special pieces in the town where I wrote my memoir, Life on Planet Rock, and have much family and a ton of good friends.  If one of my guitars tweaks your collector’s fancy, please contact owner Mark Castillo and we’ll see if we can make a deal. Many thanks!” – Lonn Friend

Mark Castillo began Downtown Vintage Guitars as a hub for everything guitar-related and cool. After co-founding a successful interior design company, he left it all behind with a determination to put his carpentry skills to work on something more artistic, something musical.

Mark put the place together with his own brawn, bringing music to the newly renovating and expanding art district. The cozy classic atmosphere doesn’t just showcase guitars, the bar and the stage come alive on event nights and instruments can truly be showcased and tested in their natural environment. Even for non-musicians DVG becomes a hot spot to hang out as one of the art district’s first “Urban Lounges.” A bar in a music store, how cool is that?

With that design background it’s no surprise his handmade acoustic guitars are so groundbreaking and unique while remaining familiar and likable as well. Trained by Master Luthier Norman Height, Mark can make the guitar of your dreams out of any exotic woods you wish. He gathers up fancy woods from all around the world. If you need someone delicate but ballsy enough to restore an old classic, Mark can get any abused old guitar stage-ready quickly and affordably.
